It’s been four years since the almighty Belly Bao shot straight to the heart of Sydney’s food lovers. In 2013 they began trading fortnightly at Paddington Markets, growing a loyal following with lovingly steamed bao buns and various fillings like crispy fried chicken and crackling roast pork belly. Two-storey mini golf bar Holey Moley is opening in Newtown (Sydney)

Now that Brisbane and Melbourne have been hit with this weird hybrid of a bar and mini golf course, it’s Sydney’s turn. Opening up in Newtown, the rapidly expanding Holey Moley is set to mirror its success in the other two cities with a pop-culture approach to the timeless tradition of putting a ball into a hole in between drinks. Gelato Messina are opening a Newtown store (Sydney)

Over 40 Dark Beers will be tapped at Newtown’s Union Hotel for this epic winter event (Sydney)

Newtown institution Union Hotel is turning down the lights for a special craft beer event this month, tapping 40 dark beers over two evenings to help make the winter cold that much more bearable, as well as highlighting some of the country’s best winter brews (many of which are crowd-sourced suggestions). 20 Dark Kegs will be tapped each night, starting with the first 20 on Friday 17th June with one beer per brewery, and finishing the next night with 20 different brews on Saturday 18th June....
