White Rabbit White Ale named best beer in Australia for 2017

It’s not much of a surprise when we hear that Australia’s beloved White Rabbit makes a dent in the overseas market; the constantly creative and playful brewers have put out some of the best released in the past few years – not to mention their epic twin-brewery in Geelong with Little Creatures. Though this news deserves to be celebrated: White Rabbit White Ale has been named Champion Australian Beer and Best Wheat Beer (Gold Medal) at the recent Australian International Beer Awards, a competition which attracted more than 1,700 entries from over 320 breweries in 36 countries.

As far as judging both draught and packaged beer, AIBA is the largest annual beer competition in the world and the oldest in Australia. This year saw some of the widest range of winners yet, which included plenty of medals going to White Rabbits’ parent company, Lion, including Gold for Little Creatures’ seasonal Dog Days Summer Beer, Gold for James Squire Porter, Bronze for Little Creatures Pilsner, and Bronze for Furphy Refreshing Ale.

“We’re really proud to have achieved this result for White Rabbit”, said Head Brewer Jeremy Halse. “To be named the best beer in Australia is just fantastic and only proves that we’re doing good things at our brewery in Geelong”.

Taking inspiration from legendary Belgian brewers of the traditional style, White Rabbit White Ale is best described as a smooth, classic and cloudy white ale which is defined by fresh hints of coriander, juniper berry and bitter orange.
