Pure Blonde expand with low sugar, low carb apple cider

Pure Blonde has to this point been synonymous with beer; most recently realising a surge in sales with the introduction of their low-card alternatives after seeing a double digit decline in regular beer sales. In an effort to stick to these lighter alternatives the Carlton & United Breweries brand have now expanded into the cider market, launching a crisp apple cider with 60% less sugar and 50% less carbs than regular cider.

After consumer research showed that, in Australia, 84% of regular cider drinkers are more likely to follow a healthy and balanced diet, Pure Blonde tapped into a growing market that aims to adapt to adults looking for a smarter, healthier choice when reaching for a cider. Further to this, 43% of cider drinkers apparently believe that cider is too sweet when compared to other alcoholic drinks, hence Pure Blonde have focused on a drink that contains 16 fewer teaspoons of sugar per six-pack (or 2.7 fewer per bottle) than regular cider, without sacrificing taste.

“Pure Blonde Cider will appeal to those who don’t normally drink cider because they find it too sweet and sugary, particularly white wine drinkers.” said Pure Blonde Marketing Director Ben Eyles. “We have created Pure Blonde Cider with 60 per cent less sugar and 50 per cent less carbohydrates than regular cider for both men and women who are focused on a balance lifestyle”.

Pure Blonde Cider is bottled at 4.2 per cent ABV and has now launched nationally, offering a flavour profile formed from whole crushed apples that have been fermented with a white wine yeast to lift a crisp, delicate finish. It’s currently available in bottle shops and on premise venues in Australia.
