Australian market welcomes new premium wine label “I Am George”

Australia’s got a new wine brand with I Am George, a collection of premium reds that pay tribute to the history and life of beloved winemaker George Wyndham, who is often considered one of the pioneers of the Australian wine industry and one of the first to plan vines in the country. The range has launched along with a short-film series worked up in collaboration with award-winning filmmakers Brilliant Films, each film exploring George’s connection to classical elements within life and nature.

The collection, which is described as uniformly bold and robust, is now available across the country and includes a Shiraz from Langhorne Creek, as well as a Shiraz Cabernet and Cabarnet Merlot, both from Limestone Coast. There’s also “The Chronicles” range, which pays further tribute to specific chapters in George’s life, from the Barossa Padthaway Shiraz and McLaren Vale Shiraz to the Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon, the Barossa Shiraz, and the Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon.

“Working on I Am George has been one of those rare opportunities to have amazing historical subject matter and the freedom to create these extraordinary epilogues of George’s life”, explained Steve Back who served as Creative Director on the short films. “The biggest challenge we found was communicating George’s virtues from yesteryear to modern day in a way that would inspire and motivate a new generation. Throughout production we all felt as if we experienced his journey of reflective endurance, passion, persistence and arduous conditions, and we are all proud to be a part of that”.

I Am George is now available at select Australian retailers and online. The regular range is available at an RRP of $19.99 per 750ml bottle and The Chronicles range is available at an RRP of $24.99 per 750ml bottle.
