There’s no shortage of epic wine parties in Sydney, many of which tighten focus on one aspect of what is an incredible diverse scene. This latest one, Young Gun of Wine Uncut, will be held at Merivale’s famed ivy this Wednesday, playing to host to 100 wines from 50 of the country’s leading cutting edge winemakers all of whom are dedicated to progressive, innovative winemaking.
The event, which is 9 years old this week, will bring winemakers and ticket holders together on the lush second level of Merivale’s multi-purpose property, overlooking Pailings where guests will be able to grab a bite to eat before or after working their way through the very wide range of wines.
Young Gun of Wine has been going strong since 2007, showcasing winemakers who are taking a forward-thinking approach to the art. It’s an event to highlight the best emerging talent on the scene with a dynamic celebration of this country’s next generation. New releases and classics will feature, taking a very casual and accessible approach.
“Many of these winemakers are producing such small quantities that they seem to sell out as soon as they’re labeled”, said Merivale Group Sommelier Franck Moreau. “To have an opportunity to taste these wines and meet their makers, all in one venue, is incredible exciting. We are proud to present this new wave of winemakers, who are truly defining the Australia industry.”
As an added treat this year, there will be a “greatest hits” aspect to the event, where each of the top trophy winners from the first ten years of Young Gun of Wine will be in attendance with their wines in tow. That means you’ll also get drops from First Drop, Spinifex, Adelina/Some Young Punks, Crittenden/Los Hermanos, Ocean Eight, Ruggabellus, Ochota Barrels, Sami Odi, A. Rodda Wines, and Dormilona.
