Wine List of the Year Awards: best wine lists in Australia have been revealed for 2016

Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards, which are held each year in partnership with Gourmet Traveller WINE, have today been announced, a result of the heady task that is sorting through the country’s top restaurants to arrive at the very best being offered in 2016. Each year, the list of awards serves as an well respected guide to the best collections of wines sorted into categories, from the esteemed “Wine List of the Year” award, which was last year won by Bentley Restaurant & Bar (Sydney) and “Best New List” to “Best Food and Wine Matching List” and even “Best Beer List”.

Not counting the state-by-state awards, NSW has emerged as the majority winner of the recent ceremony held at Glass Brasserie, holding the top spot in 9 categories including “Best Pub Restaurant List” (Upstairs at The Lord Nelson, Sydney), “Best Hotel Restaurant List” (Jonah’s, Palm Beach), “Best Wine Bar List” (Love Tilly Devine, Sydney, and “The Tony Hitchin Award for Best New List” (Silvereye, Sydney). Though the biggest winner of the night was South Australia’s feverishly popular FermentAsian (Tanunda) which took out the big one as well as “Best Country Restaurant List”, adding to its already huge stack of acclaim.
