Back for the second year in a row, the Victorian Cider & Pork Festival will be held over the weekend of January 21 – 22, 2017, this time at the Flemington Racecourse. It’s aiming to be the biggest feast of cider and pork that has hit Victoria.
Running from 11am -10pm, festival admission is from $30.00 per person, per day including a Pint of Cider or Beer. For those looking to check this out in the twilight hours, there is a timeslot of 5pm – 10pm where you can get tickets from $20.00 per person, per day including a Pint of Cider or Beer.
More than 75 international and Australian ciders will be represented during the event, and patrons can also sample some of the city’s most divine foods. Food trucks such as Burn City Smokers, Copa Food Truck and Smokin’ Barrys, as well as restaurants like Toasta & Co, Nuoc Mama’s and Loaded Melbourne will be available for sampling.
Ciders scheduled to appear (including over 18 local cider producers) at the festival include Batlow Cider Co, Aspall Cider and Granite Belt Cider. Beer producers include Stone & Wood, Four Pines and Colonial Brewing Co.
Along with food and drinks, masterclasses will also be held so that visitors will learn about the different degrees of cider, from France, Australia and the UK.
Live music can be enjoyed across two stages, and will feature live bands, acoustics acts, DJs, buskers and roaming entertainment.
Event organiser, Jesse Wilson, says, “Pouring a diverse variety of cider styles from Australian and international regions, everyone will find something to tantalize their taste buds with, especially with our leading local cider and beer specialists including St Ronan’s, Napoleone Cider and Custard & Co”.
The Victorian Cider & Pork Festival follows the success of the annual Swan Valley festival in WA, which is a similar event.
