Urban Orchard brings wholefoods to Circular Quay (Sydney)

Now that $60 million development The Gateway has opened in Circular Quay, it’s time for the notoriously touristy area to start building a quality dining scene to fully integrate into the new-look harbour city. The Gateway has a wide enough scope to welcome in some really big openings, as well as some smaller ones that will offer Quay workers a huge variety; one such opening is the new Urban Orchard, the precinct’s healthy, wholefoods cafe that focuses on thoughtful eating made with convenience and flavour in mind.

Urban Orchard will be sourcing daily delivered ingredients from respected growers, producers, and suppliers throughout Australia with a dedication to sustainable farming practices and reducing their eco-footprint, channeling this ethos into their dishes which are all made fresh to order for both eat-in and takeaway. And yep, all takeaway packaging is sustainable and biodegradable.

After seeing how hard it was to find quick and healthy wholefoods in the city, founder Gabrielle Levette decided to mirror the progressive approach many restaurants in Sydney have switched to and offer this in a fast-casual, cafe environment. “I saw a gaping gap in the market for fast food with a concious”, she says, “so sprung the idea for Urban Orchard.

Urban Orchard’s breakfast menu will kick off at 7am each day with the likes of Cashew & Walnut Granola Trifle with Marook Creek organic yoghurt and seasonal fruit, and Okonomyaki with kale, cabbage, sweet potato, and red pickled ginger with additional options including poached tuna, avocado mayo, and nitrate free bacon. The lunch menu will switch things up to salads and warm dishes like grass-fed Lamb Kofta and Raw Slaw with chicken, kale, cabbage, beetroot, and carrot with avocado mayo. Cold pressed juices, smoothies, Jiva Kombucha, and coffee from Pablo & Rusty’s will also be available throughout the day.
