There is a yeeros eating competition going down in Sydney CBD next week

Cramming as many tasty yeeros into that mouth of yours for a shot at an easy $1,000 voucher seems like a good way to spend an afternoon, no? That’s what you’ll be doing if you head along to The Civic Hotel next week, as Tuesday 9th August will see an official yeeros eating contest to celebrate the venue’s new menu. Entrants to the competitive eating event will have two minutes to gobble down as many yeeros they can, the winner gifted a grand to spend at any Universal Hotels venue (aside from the Civic that includes newly opened Italian spots Margherita & Co and Margherita’s Vinoteca, Green Peppercorn, Hotel Downing, and V Bar & Lounge).

Train that stomach over the weekend, because the chance to show off how good you are at eating yeeros and eating them fast is rare in a world full of burgers and hotdogs. A few tips to help you prepare: break the yeeros into bite-sized pieces before eating, eliminating a few seconds off valuable chew time; drink plenty of water to soften to food and help it go down easier; and lightly wriggle your body around while you eat – it seems stupid but many of the world’s top competitive eaters swear by the method (it also might distract the person next to you; play dirty).

There will be two sittings for the eating comp – 12:30pm and 1pm – and entry will set you back $15pp. If you don’t win, you’ve still got all-you-can-eat yeeros (for two minutes) plus a beer (and some water of course).

Yeeros Eating Competition

Where: The Civic Hotel, 388 Pitt St, CBD
