The city of Sydney has a huge stock of high quality food trucks zipping all over the place nowadays so it’s only right that iconic Erskineville venue The Imperial Hotel channels all that into a new weekly festival. Every Saturday and Sunday from 4pm to 8pm, the new team behind The Imperial will be rounding up some of the city’s best meals on wheels in an ongoing program while the venue continues to shape up it’s standalone food offering.
Dubbed “The Weekend Truck Me Festival”, selected trucks will pull up directly outside The Imperial on Union Street and start serving up their specialities to the crowds welcomed inside the venue for an afternoon of eating, drinking, and entertainment.
“The Imperial Hotel Sydney has primarily been a space for performances, drinking, and late night dancing”, said General Manager Billy McMaugh. “We wish to expand this offer. We will always showcase these concepts, however, party of what we aim to achieve with our development plans is to introduce a strong food offering to the venue and in the interim we thought, why wait?”
First up for the festival will be Madman Burgers (their Meaty Minaj burger is pictured above), pulling up on Saturday 30th, followed by Big Daddy’s Food Truck the next day on Sunday 1st May. Acoustic covers of well known camp covers will soundtrack these culinary treats.
