Prahran’s The Cullen Hotel, a member of the acclaimed Art Series Hotel Group, is regularly referenced as one of Melbourne’s very best and brightest properties. For years now, the youthful hotel has thriving on not only a high standard of boutique accommodation, but in-house dining as well, an aspect which has taken a recent leap forward with a re-brand for Gramercy Social (formerly Gramercy Bistro).
The dining destination on the ground floor of the property has absorbed the energy of Americana style comfort move, a big move away from the bistro-style which the venue was originally wrapped around. Now, New York has served as a template for the full menu refresh with an on-trend selection of burgers, salads, share plates and breakfast dishes sitting alongside all-day options for hotel guests and visitors.
“The food in New York features a lot of flavours that all come together, you use your hands more, it’s a very casual way of dining and this is what we wanted to create with Gramercy Social”, offered owner Adam Faigen, who referenced areas like Manhattan and Williamsburg as sources of inspiration.
Several different cheeseburgers can be found on the menu, all a part of an extensive list that includes ingredients like maple bacon, buttermilk fried chicken, American cheese and chipotle mayo. Elsewhere on the list one will find share dishes like DIY brisket tacos, Buffalo wings, pretzel dusted calamari and mancancini poppers feature, while mains include the New York strip steak and crispy skin salmon.
Served from the bar is a number of craft beers, wine and spirits as well as signature brunch cocktails and other bespoke concoctions keeping in-line with the menu.
