The Australian Museum is hosting an interactive murder mystery party this month (Sydney)

The Australian Museum has never said no to some of Sydney’s most unique parties these past few years. After all, the historic opposite-Hyde-Park institution was the original site for the sorely missed Jurassic Lounge when the unique after-work party series began. It seems the venue’s penchant for parties with a difference hasn’t died down though, as next month The Australian Museum and the Alliance Française de Sydney will be hosting an interactive murder mystery party for the Angela Lansbury in us all.

On Wednesday 17th May, guests will be able to enjoy an immersive murder mystery game on a supersized scale, taking place throughout the museum as the program unfolds with cocktails, an exclusive viewing of current exhibition Spiders – Alive & Deadly, and a delegation of French scientists presenting a “ground-breaking discovery”.

And before that “ground-breaking discovery” is made, it will be revealed that a member of the French delegation has died “from mysterious causes” (probably spiders tbh – Straya) and it will be on the guests to wrap up the thrilling mystery.

“A scripted experience such as this is a playful and unique way for audiences to engage with the Australian Museum’s collection”, offered the museum’s Creative Producer Tanya Goldberg. “This immersive experience will take people around the museum on the search for clues, and in doing so give them a completely new entry point for exploring our exhibitions and world-renowned collection”.

The search for the scientist’s cause of death will be followed by a big reveal at the end of the night in No.1 William, which is the museum’s newly opened rooftop restaurant, where would-be detectives can opt to enjoy a classic French-inspired dinner after the murder-romp, served from 8pm. There will be the option of two courses for $45 or three courses for $54 per person, including a glass of French white or red wine, paired with dishes like Duck Liver Parfait and Chocolate Fondant with French vanilla ice cream.

Tickets to Murder at the Museum are $49 for AM Members, $59 for non-members and include a welcome drink on arrival. This event is for over 18s only.
