Taste Orange hits Barangaroo Reserve this Sunday for a food and wine showcase (Sydney)

Sydney fans of Orange’s cool climate wines and renowned produce are in for a treat this weekend as Taste Orange @ Barangaroo takes over Barangaroo Reserve on Sunday. The annual one-day festival, which is part of numerous Sydney showcase events by Orange Region Tourism, is a fantastic opportunity for locals to explore the dynamic food and drink scene in Orange without making the three-and-a-half hour drive on down to the stunning region.

More than 20 stallholders will be setting up shop in Barangaroo Reserve, including harbourside cellar doors, food stalls and various entertainment throughout the day. Some of the local Barangaroo restaurants will also be getting involved this year, cosying up to Orange wineries from See Saw Wines and Cumulus Estate to Logan Wines, Ross Hill Wines and Cargo Road.

Restaurants and producers set to help fill the day with food include Wild Sage, Anason, Jimmy Liks, Bel & Brio, Serendipity Ice Cream, Franklin Road Kitchen, Greentrees Gourmet Preserves, and Second Mouse Cheese Co. They’ll also be an opportunity to explore food using indigenous ingredients by local Wiradjuri food companies. (think kangaroo sliders and sweet treats featuring native ingredients like lemon myrtle coconut slices and bush plum crumbles).

“Taste Orange @ Barangaroo gives Sydneysiders a taste of what’s on offer in Orange to tempt them to take the scenic 3.5 hour trip over the Blue Mountains to experience the region for themselves”, said Chief Executive of Brand Orange Rhonda Sear. “Every week is food and wine week in Orange, and with four very distinct seasons it’s always a great time to visit”.

Entry to the festival is free although those planning on pre-purchasing should probably jump on the special package deal, which is $40pp for 10 wine-tasting tickets and a free souvenir wine glass to be collected on the day from the Visit Orange stall. More information can be found HERE.
