Sydney’s legendary Jackies launches a refreshed breakfast and lunch menu

The iconic Paddington courtyard cafe Jackies have debuted an updated breakfast and lunch menu. Jackies’ new owners Jono and Lucy Bowman purchased the business from the late Jackie Milijash’s mother Gina earlier this year and vow to continue the cool cafe scene of the 1990’s that Jackies notoriously had a part in creating.

Josh Booker (left), new Head Chef of Jackies

With new ownership comes new a Head Chef, Josh Booker. Booker grew up in Byron Bay and has worked previously at ivy, Slip Inn and The Boathouse Balmoral where he was also Head Chef. He joins the retained Japanese influences of sushi chefs Tatsuo Ito and Masayuki Takegawa who have been serving shashimi salads, Japanese inspired seafood platters and sushi and sashimi rolls at Jackies for the last decade.

On top of this familiar Japanese presence at Jackies, Booker has crafted a breakfast menu that features the likes of a raw seasonal green vegetable bowl, a coconut and cacao granola and a brioche french toast with whipped ricotta, rhubarb compote and strawberries. Other options during the day include burrata & heirloom tomato salad, Booker’s signature smoked salmon pate served with “Pepe Saya” creme fraiche and a lonza sandwich with juniper berry, cured pork loin, pickles and scamorza cheese.

Jackies are open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch at the moment but we can expect that to change soon with announcements of extending their hours to accommodate twilight cocktails and host private functions to occur soon.
