Sydney’s espresso martini festival has added an extra day to meet demand

The Mr Black Festival of the Espresso Martini, kicking off in just a few weeks, has proven so popular that organisers have been forced to add an extra day, making that a total of three days dedicated to one of the most beloved cocktails in the country. With the first two days selling out almost instantly, the festival has grown its program considerably, now planning to offer even more to guests including food from Mary’s and Mr Bao and a special ticketed launch event, which will be held at PS40 on Thursday 25th May, with all the festival’s drink collaborators offering up their goods.

“You don’t need us to tell you how mental Sydney is about coffee and drinking – but I think we undercooked it a bit with the initial release of tickets”, said Mr Black founder Tom Baker. “Coffee is having it’s renaissance in the bar, cafe and homes of Australians and we’re proud to bring that into the night”.

In addition to Mary’s and Mr Bao, Mr Black will welcome beer legends Young Henry’s to the festival, as well as musicians Jesse Redwing and Shady Cactus to take care of the live music. As far as caffeinated creations go, there’ll be a plenty of different takes on the classic espresso martini as well as cold-brew masterclasses, “coffee pong” and free Mr Black tastings.

Tickets to the launch event at PS40, located at 2/40 King St, are very limited, being capped at just 60 and priced at $75+bf pp. Guests will be served a comprehensive preview of the festival experience with Mr Black on arrival, canapes and a choice of two custom coktails, created by PS40 to be on show at the festival. It kicks off on Thursday 25th May at 6:30pm and wraps up around 9:30pm.
