Sofitel Gold Coast’s room81 awarded two chef hats (Gold Coast)

Two Chef Hats have recently been awarded to Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach’s restaurant, room81, by Australian Good Food Guide (AGFG), following the success of their exceptional degustation concept delivered by Chef de Cuisine Sam Moore and the room81 team.

The two Chef Hats distinction makes room81 one of only three other restaurants in the Gold Coast area with the same accolade of two hats, with room81 previously holding a one-hat distinction.

The prize marks an incredible 12 months for Chef Sam, who created the idea for the degustation over 18 months ago. He says, “The challenge was set, and the team delivered an amazing result. My degustation concept is quite unique given the complexity of cooking techniques and flavours. To receive Two Hats from AGFG is an honour and my proudest moment so far as a Chef.”

The degustation experience that led to the awarding of the Two Hat title at room81 offers five, seven or nine courses, with dishes that not only unveil a “culinary tapestry” course by course, but are also created using exciting local ingredients.

Chef Sam Moore began his career in Sydney and Melbourne’s bustling restaurant scene, as well as some of Europe’s best kitchens.  Prior to room81, Sam worked at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins’ restaurant No. 35 and Sydney’s Pier and No41 Chifley Place.

room81 is part of the Sofitel group of hotels, known for offering their guests a genuine experience of the French “art de vivre”, in settings that evoke beauty, quality and excellence. Sofitel hotels and resorts are found on five continents with 120 addresses, in almost 40 countries (more than 30,000 rooms), including Paris, London, New York, Shanghai or Beijing, and in countries such as Morocco, Egypt, French Polynesia or Thailand.
