Sesión Tequila Wins Three Awards at 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Australian owned Sesión Premium Tequila has walked away from the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition with one award for each of their three tequilas, a feat made all that more impressive when considering the brand only launched their artisan Tequila in December of last year. Their Sesión Mocha Tequila won a Gold Medal, while both their Sesión Blanco and Reposado won Silver Medals.

The gold-winning Sesión Mocha Tequila is described as presenting a nose of chocolate fondant, biscuits, bread dough, an dark roasted coffee with notes of roasted agave, flowing into a palate of dark chocolate and cold-brew coffee with a creamy texture and a sweet finish. For something completely different, the Sesión Blanco offers a nose of green peppers and grass with a subtle smack of pineapple before bringing in a robust palate finished with a long, light spiced hint of white pepper. The Reposado is charcterised by its nose of butterscotch, green banana, and gingerbread with hints of cooked agave, and then its palate of vanilla and baked orchard fruits with a long warm spiced finish.

The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the largest and most respected spirit awards in the world. More than 1,850 spirits were judged this year, a record breaking number in the competition’s 16-year history.

Medal winners were decided on by a panel of 39 judges who are all established spirits-industry experts. The Gold Medal is awarded for an excellent product meeting very high standards, while the Silver is given to finely crafted spirits well above average.
