Salt Meats Cheese open up opposite Broadway Shopping Centre with a Nutella menu and New York style burgers (Sydney)

Well this news sure came out of nowhere. After a busy year expanding to now include four locations – Alexandria, Mosman, Drummoyne and Surfers Paradise – famous produce hub Salt Meats Cheese will open their most city-central store yet, right in the heart of Ultimo’s busy Broadway district. Basically what that means is that Sydney University students get to binge on New-York style burgers with an Italian twist like Truffle Burgers and Porchetta Burgers and Southern Italian street food pretty much every day.

Australia’s leading gourmet providore have been introducing more restaurant and bar elements alongside their expansion, so we can expect this new store to further that and offer a menu – created by award-winning, hatted Chef Simona Ciantelli – that includes aforementioned burgers as well as tapas style dishes like The Hot Fritto, which is Tuscan Cumbed olives stuffed with fresh chilli and manchego cheese, accompanied by Spanish chorizo and potato croquettes with spicy jalapeno aioli. SMC favs Egg Pappardelle with burnt orange lamb ragu and Black Lobster Pizza will also make an appearance on the dining menu.

Described as an industrial style space with modern exposed brick detail and ceilings, dotted with green foilage and similar rustic charm to its famous Alexandria warehouse, this Ultimo store will be operating from Thursday 7th April (yes, this week!) and in addition to all the above delights, will make permanent their popular Nutella Menu. Think Nutella Cartocci of deep-fried pastry with Nutella and custard cream, right alongside the option of a Nutella Heaven Cup topped with Cookies & Cream gelato, Ferrero Rocher, Raffaelo, Kinder Bueno, and Nutella Sauce.

Classic Italian beverages will feature, with the introduction of pre-made premium cocktails in keepsake bottles, on-trend with the likes of Elderflower Spritz and Mezcal Negroni on an extensive drinks list right next to imported and local wines, Italian beers, and Mexican Tequilas.

“This is a new concept for us and we are very excited to be sharing the inspiration from our travels and passion for good food and wine with the residents of Broadway.” Say Co-Directors Stefano De Blasi and Edoardo Perlo.

The store also means a new bar for the area as every Thursday through Sunday will see the space turn into an NYC-styled bar with local DJs and a more suitable environment to journey through that drinks list.
