Rye July whisky series returns to The Glenmore this July (Sydney)

This July, The Glenmore Hotel in The Rocks will host its fourth annual Rye July whisky celebration series. It boasts being a series of events for seasoned whisky-lovers and those looking to move up the ranks to a connoisseur. Two events over July are currently planned to tempt you away from those Dry July ambitions – Night of Whiskies and a Johnnie Walker Whisky Dinner.

Night of Whiskies on July 13 will see more than 15 international samples from Japan, Scotland, North America and Australia be the centerpieces when The Club Room is transformed into a Japanese-themed haven, the Grand Dining Room changes into Europe as Scottish whiskys from Islay and Skye, such as Caol Ila 12-year-old single malt and Talisker 10-year-old single malt make appearances. Whisky ambassador Talyor Scelzi will also be running a cocktail masterclass in The Glenmore’s Drawing Room. Scelzi teases, This Rye July, we have secured a solid selection of rare whiskeys and we’re especially excited to showcase our Japanese range. Rye July is all about opening your eyes to the diversity of whiskey and discovering brands and ranges that are switching things up in the world of whiskey.”

Continuing the whisky festivities will be a four-course dinner captained by Johnnie Walker on July 27. The culinary evening will see Diageo national whisky ambassador Simon McGoram host the delights of toasted rye with homemade ricotta and abbamele; bottarga salad; and sirloin and Fireball glazed rib with cafe de Paris butter with a desert of dark chocolate gelato, walnut praline and burnt orange topped with baby mint.
