Remi is leading a Melbourne cultural takeover at Kings Cross Hotel this month (Sydney)

Across all five-levels of Kings Cross Hotel will be a pop-up showcase of Melbourne kinetic culture, spanning live music, art, food and drink. Fashioned as Melbourne After Dark, the one-off travelling pop-up will land in Sydney to highlight the world’s most livable city (and maybe show us Sydneysiders a thing or two about nightlife) across the final weekend of November before packing up and heading off to Brisbane and Adelaide in December.

Kings Cross Hotel will be twisted and shaped into a vertical Melbourne laneway for the 15-hour showcase event, which as far as live music goes has a hell of a lot in store. Emcee Remi will be headlining a top-quality line-up which will also include the likes of Saskwatch and The Delta Riggs. This rambunctious music program will be complemented with a stacked food and drink line-up that includes pop-ups from Coda and Tonka, American-style BBQ joint Fancy Hanks, burger behemoth Huxtaburger, and new gourmet ice cream spot Glacé. St Ali will be be hopping on board to head up the drinks, bringing a bunch of bespoke cocktails, Victorian wine and craft beer, and Melbourne-quality coffee to the venue.

Each floor of the Kings Cross Hotel will be specially designed to reflect a different Melbourne landmark or precinct, no doubt bringing plenty of street art into the venue to mirror the city’s famous aesthetic.

“Melbourne After Dark allows us to showcase the side of Melbourne that appeals to our savvy interstate visitors who are across the latest music and dining trends and who enjoy the diversity of arts and cultural events that Melbourne offers every day, and well in the night [sick dig at Sydney mate])”, said CEO of Visit Victoria Peter Bingeman. “What better way to remind Sydney – and Australia – of how cutting edge our city is than by bringing it directly to locals and giving them a taste of why they need to book a trip to Melbourne”.

Entry to the event will be free. Stay tuned for more information about the Brisbane and Adelaide events.
