Inner-west icon The Imperial Erskineville has been making a hell of a lot of noise since its recent re-launch following an eight-month $6 million redevelopment. Now the venue’s owners are ready to unveil the venue’s resident restaurant, Priscillas, which combines live entertainment with a fabulous “Drag & Dine” concept and food that focuses on a dedicated ceviche bar and a plant-based menu.
“The Imperial is known for its iconic drag shows and performance, so we’re keeping this alive as we move into the new generation” said Fraser Short of The Sydney Collective. “Our customers also love to eat as well, so we’ve put a lot of effort into ensuring the venue is a home for delicious, tasty food”.
Veg-forward diners can expect menu highlights like the Crabless Crabcakes with jackfruit, palm hearts and spices; Coconut Ceviche with jalapeno agua-chile, coconut curry, radish, pickles and blue corn chips; and Paella in either vegetarian, pescatarian or carnivore varieties. Speaking of carnivores, meat eaters will still be taken care of with a range of roasts and grills.
Cocktails lovers are getting a huge nod with a comprehensive and colourful list of concoctions, but none more front-and-centre than the forever-loved Espresso Martini, with Priscillas introducing their very own late-night “Espresso Martini Club” from 10pm each night.
The restaurant and bar is but the first of several waves of new and exciting concepts The Imperial will roll out throughout this year and early 2019. The next one is coming later this month, revealing a live performance and dance space dubbed The Basement that’s being pushed as a late-night dance venue outside the pesky lockout zone. The space will be open from Thursday to Sunday each week, encouraging self-expression with engaging programs of events including drag shows, live music, DJs, partnered events, and more.
The waves will keep on rolling out until the final reveal in early 2019, which is said to be Australia’s very first same-sex wedding chapel, taking over the newly acquired building right next door and turning it into sightly wedding inclusive wedding venue.
