Paris to Provence: three day French festival coming to Melbourne this month

The 8th annual Paris to Provence Melbourne French Festival is returning later to South Yarra later this month, bringing with it a comprehensive and diverse slice of Parisian culture to help transport Australians to France through sight, sound, taste, and aroma. The pop-up French village will be located at Como House and Garden from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th November, offering an entire weekend of fashion, food, wine, entertainment, and general creativity presented by French designers, culinary experts and artisans.

The festival will maintain a strong commitment to tradition and provide Melbourne with an authentic French experience so those heading along can expect a series of mini events designed after the culture, including an inaugural fashion show titled le défilé de mode, directed by French blogger FrenChic Tough with lingerie Simone Pérele, Aigle, Bleu Blanc Rouge, and Blue Illusion. This will be complemented by a single speed dating party, masterclasses, and a French bulldog parade. There’s even some French-speaking classes planned for the Friday for those who want to brush up before any big holidays.

Of course the centerpiece of the festival will be the Paris to Provence markets, bringing in around 75 French exhibitors and food stalls. Expect standards like croissants and crepes, ratatoutille, racelette, and even some rabbit pies. Wines will come from Bordeuax and beyond, showcased across a few stalls near a pop-up G.H Mumm Champagne garden by resident cafe Stables of Coco.

Roaming performers and French street musicians will help the festival flow from day to day while other attractions planned include manicured gardens, pastry chef presentations in the Grand Ballroom, even a freakin’ escargot eating contest. Friday and Saturday evenings will also see a twilight picnic, with Saturday exclusively hosting a Le Bal Musette village dance under fairy lights with a French jazz band.

The program is stacked full of all things French and you can check the full schedule plus more information HERE.
