New Walsh Bay restaurant Seventeen opens just in time for summer holidays (Sydney)

Inspired by the seventeen moorings floating along Sydney’s foreshore, Walsh Bay’s latest nautical themed dining venue Seventeen will be opening this week just in time for summer, boasting spectacular water views in a 100 seater cafe/deli/restaurant setting.

Headed up by Clint Jaeger (Tetsuya’s, Banc, Bill’s and Hugo’s) Seventeen’s versatility is reflected in its menu which transitions from lighter cafe options during the day to more indulgent contemporary restaurant fare at night. Service extends to take away breakfasts, burgers and sandwiches, office catering and come February the intriguing option for locals to be served breakfast in bed by the concierge.

Australian local produce is not only heroed as part of the charcuterie selection available in the Deli but is also reflective in the wine list and ingredients which make up dinner dishes such as apple duck confit with celeriac remoulade, macerated figs and summer herbs, hot smoked Huon salmon in chermoula basting with sweet corn purée, confit potatoes and crispy pancetta and Otway crispy skin pork belly, with fresh peach, candied mustard fruits and sweet potato chips.

The restaurant’s name also happens to be its street number and a lucky number for the family who happens to own it and neighbouring restaurant El Phoenician. Here’s to seeing Seventeen’s namesake, location and menu continue the same good fortune and success.
