Neil Perry adds spice to Saké Jr’s new menu in Sydney and Melbourne

Australia’s leading chef, Neil Perry has designed the dishes for Saké Jr’s new menu. Combining the latest food trends from Tokyo with his focus on ethically sourced local produce, Perry will be bringing sustainable dishes to causal diners at the brand’s locations in Sydney and Melbourne.

The new dinner menus have launched at Saké Jr Collins Lane in Melbourne, and in Grosvenor Place in Sydney. Lunch menus have arrived at Sake Jr Westfield, and will be introduced at Melbourne’s Bourke Street on Monday February 27.

“As with all our endeavours, we are community and sustainability minded,” Perry said. “Our ethos is simple: source responsibly, act respectfully, cook beautifully, live well. Of course on top of that, I’m a great advocate of eating adventurously, which is why I’ve introduced some cult dishes and vibrant flavours to the menu across the food and drinks spectrum.”

The new menus showcase Perry’s commitment to sustainability through sourcing produce from Australia’s finest natural producers. Some delicious items like Bangalow pork, pasture-raised Tasmanian beef, MSC-certified tuna and Tasmanian Ocean trout are bringing a rare ethical focus to the fast-casual space. Perry also has take-away diners in mind, by providing bio-degradable packaging made from sugarcane pulp.

The lunch menu starts from 11 am with Sake Jr’s signature build-your-own bowls and daily fresh nutritious grab-and-go items, including house-made poke and protein salads.

In the evening from 4 pm, Saké Jr transforms into Jr by Night, inspired by Japan’s vibrant street food scene. Japanese fried chicken is teamed with a choice of chilli oil, gochujang or sesame yuzu; bao buns are brimful of tofu, chicken or pork with kimchi and sesame yuzu mayo; and abura “soup-less” oil noodles are flavoured with soy and kombu and feature a choice of meats and an onsen egg to finish.

House-brewed iced teas complement the exciting new menu additions, as well as sake-spiked ice tea cocktails, sake and beers in the evening.

Diners at Sydney’s Grosvenor Place and Bourke Street in Melbourne can roll into the weekend with beats from an in-house DJ every Thursday and Friday night.
