Popular German dining spot Munich Brauhaus has officially made its debut in Brisbane, bringing the city a massive 900-seat, two storey beer hall located in the renovated, heritage-listed Allgas Building in Stanley Street Plaza. Positioned in the heart of South Bank, this one should easily get over well with fans of hearty schnitzels, pork knuckles, salted pretzels, and of course beer.
Across two bars and a 250-seat outdoor bier garten, the venue is currently in the midst of a huge Oktoberfest-style month-long celebration to help it cosy into the neighbourhood.
“We want to give guests an Oktoberfest experience that they won’t get anywhere else in the city”, said Rockpool Dining Group CEO Thomas Pash. “Munich Brauhaus is renowned for delivering an Oktoberfest experience 265 days of the year, so we intend to kick things off the way we mean to continue”.
Making use of feature walls rife with wooden logs and bier barrels, the design takes an apline approach while the high-ceiling, bench seating and stages for bands should immediately give off the impression of a good old fashion Munich bier hall. That’ll make for a nice atmosphere, especially with 36 taps and 17 draught biers available at any one time, including an extensive list of Bavarian biers and craft brews by Urban Craft Brewing Co.
Groups will be happy to know that a $140 feast for 4 people is being offered as part of the huge menu, which nets a 2-litre beer tower, giant pretzels, a full rack of ribs, a whole Bavarian roast chicken and half a kg of chicken wings and sausages. For $35 per person, it’s a steal. Other dinner specials being offered during the week including an all-you-can-eat meat platter for $39pp on Mondays, $20 “Schnitz Blitz” on Tuesdays (that’s a schnitzel and 300ml beer in case you were wondering) and a $15 lunch special for an Uber schnitzel with 300ml beer (Monday to Thursday).
