Munchies team with top young chefs for pop up food parties through Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

One of the more essential events as part of this year’s forthcoming Melbourne Food and Wine Festival will be a neat nine-day collaboration between Vice food channel Munchies and some of the city’s best and most popular young chefs. Dubbed Club Munchies, the program will shape into Bourke Street’s Spleen Bar with the chefs, a bunch of bartenders and DJs with each night curated by a different restaurant and chef.

Spanning the festival, the pop-up program will kick off on Friday 16th March and last through to Sunday 25th March, with a whole heap of big names in between, ranging from Supernormal and Lee Ho Fook to St Ali and Belle’s Hot Chicken. That’s a massive range of food, tunes and drinks right there, with chefs curating everything from the menu to the music, highlighting their biggest inspirations.

Throughout Club Munchies, the hungry hipsters of Melbourne can expect everything from Croatian classics to a wrap-party combining karaoke and fried chicken, led by none other than Belle’s Hot Chicken mastermind Morgan McGlone and Shik head honcho Kimchi Pete, who will also be heading up his own “Kim Jong Grill” night on Tuesday 20th March. Another top pick is “Wasabae” with Supernormal’s Emma Hanley on Friday 23rd March, which will feature an Australian take on Japanese classics.

Each night will also feature a curated late-night bar and snack spot open until 5am so anyone from the public can come on down and see what’s on the forever-changing (well, for 10 days) menu.
