Mosman favourite Cala Luna was forced into closure earlier this year due to a devastating fire at Middle Harbour Yacht Club. Following extensive work, owner and Executive Chef Michel Rossetti has re-opened the adored venue, once again bringing a premium Italian, harbour-side dining experience to the area.
Those heading to Cala Luna will be met with the same style, but taken to a new height. A custom designed cocktail and antipasto bar is a new addition, joining the menu of Italian style tapas dishes including freshly sliced Proscuitto and Jamon, local Seafood, and a range of Oysters with cocktails to match.
“Being at the water’s edge gives you an unbelievable appreciation for nature, and this is at the core of our approach. It’s not just the views, it’s our passion for fresh, sustainable seafood and seasonal produce that we bring to the table at Cala Luna,” Rossetti said.
“The new à la carte menu focuses on a small selection of signature dishes which will be supplemented by combinations of what’s in season and exceptional produce we find at the markets each day.”
Signatures include the Sardine Sandwich with tomato, lemon, pangrattato, and marjoram, the Whole Snapper with Moscato d’Asti, olives, and fried parsley, and the Filetto di Manzo, which is a seared eye fillet with duck fat chips and truffle.
The venue has also expanded its capacity to 175 guests in the open dining room, allowing for larger weddings and functions as well as smaller events in the 45 seat private dining room. Rossetti commissioned the new design to focus on complementing the venue’s stunning water views.
With many ingredients also sourced from the family farm in Bowral, Rossetti hopes to re-introduce locals and visitors to his fresh-focused Italian fare, prepared with the same flair found at Cala Luna’s sister venues, Pizza Pasta Bene (North Sydney, Mosman, and Cremorne). The family will also be opening a restaurant in the near future in Double Bay.
