Manly Greenhouse is Sydney’s new three-storey beachfront restaurant and bar

Manly is about to get a leafy new beachfront bar and restaurant from the same team behind Sails on Lavender Bay. Manly Greenhouse will be a multi-storey venue taking over the former Shore Club Hotel and transforming the venue with a very open, free-spirited aesthetic reflecting the natural beauty of the coastal suburb.

In an effort to offer a multifaceted dining experience, all three levels of the new restaurant and bar will be designed as distinctive from one another, with different offerings and styles. The street level bar will be approaching the more casual crowd with all-day dining (think pizza and artisan coffee), while the middle level moves on up to a restaurant defined by a charcoal grill, and the rooftop shapes into a good ol’ bar with panoramic ocean views and a canopy of cascading ferns.

Doubt they can pull it off? Think again; they’ve enlisted the undeniable talents of Luchetti Krelle (same folk behind ACME and Banksii) to design all three levels, which total space for around 400 patrons. When the venue is revealed in April of this year, locals will enter a world built after greenhouse forms with street structures and transparent materials contrasted with abundant greenery and collaborations with local plant specialists.

“The space has been vacant for almost four years: a wasted opportunity for our locals and visitors to enjoy these spectacular views – where over a morning coffee, intimate dinner or rooftop cocktail”, said co-owner Greg Anderson, who is behind the venue alongside Patricia Nunes. “We’ve witness the Manly Wharf grow in popularity over the years and we believe now is the time to breathe new life and hospitality into one of Sydney’s best beachfronts”.

More details on specific dishes and drinks at Manly Greenhouse will be revealed close to the April 2018 opening.
