Leichhardt’s Capriccio Osteria & Bar introduces new menu plus all-day dining (Sydney)

Relatively new Leichhardt restaurant Capriccio Osteria & Bar has officially entered into the flavours of summer with their latest seasonal menu, bringing with it the introduction of all-day dining from Tuesday to Sunday. Now that the restaurant has built up a local following around Sydney, it’s time for third generation restaurateurs Matteo Galletto (son of the great Lucio Galletto) and Michele Rispoli to really take their osteria to the next level and really add to the rich, renowned Italian scene that has long been established in the inner-west suburb.

The new menu is a showcase of true Osteria style dishes from Head Chef Bryan Gerlini, working with the idea of fun and fresh classic Italian with a modern twist. The ex-A Tavola Chef has curated a sharing menu made up of small and large dishes, delivering everything from antipasto to pasta to mains with a balance.

Those heading along can expect Spelt Paninis straight from the wood-fired oven for lunch, Tonnato filled with rare roast beef, tuna mayo, and rocket, and a vibrant salad of Octopus, Radicchio, Fennel, and Green Olive.

As the evening rolls around, dinner begins to offer dishes like La Pamigiana with eggplant, tomato, buffalo mozzarella, and parmesan sponge, Cacio Fave e Pepe, which is a pasta of rigatoni, pecorino romano, black pepper, and spring board beans, and the generous Pollo alla Diavola: whole butterflied corn-fed chicken, with spice rub and celeriac puree.

Desserts include the Torta di Fragole, which is a light offering of white chocolate cake, yoghurt, and strawberries.

With a new menu bringing in more customers, Capriccio can now offer extended opening hours throughout summer, making full use of the outdoor seating both on Norton street and in the garden courtyard out the back of the restaurant. From Tuesday to Saturday, lunch will be served from 12pm to 3pm with dinner beginning at 5pm. Sundays will be an homage to the classic Italian long lunch with hours from 12pm to 9pm, with a special six-course sharing menu available for a cool $59pp.

Happy Hour, or as they call it, the “Capriccio Hour” will be daily from Tuesday to Friday from 5pm to 6:30pm. During this time, guests will have access to $6 Aperol Spritz, $10 Negroni, $5 Peroni, and $15 House Wine Carafes. Bar snacks will be available from $4.
