KitKat are launching a permanent chocolate store in Melbourne this month

After successful pop ups last year in Sydney and Melbourne, KitKat have unveiled plans for their first ever permanent store in Australia. The KitKat Chocolatory will be a DIY dessert store in Melbourne Central, designed so customers can create their own personalised KitKat among other treats like exclusive flavours and handcrafted chocolates.

Melbourne street artist Dvate and pastry queen Anna Polyviou have both come on board as collaborators for the store, creating a KitKat inspired Melbourne Street collection which will be available at the store when it opens to the public on Friday 21st October. The exclusive collection will draw on the flavours of Melbourne’s distinctive street art for creations using quality ingredients like stone ground matcha, almond nougat, and toasted coconut.

Those heading along to the store can expect collections of handcrafted chocolates and one-off flavour combinations inspired by the iconic wafer chocolates. 100% sustainable UTZ certified chocolate and an ever changing range of ingredients will be used to help bring the bars to life and also form the DIY bar where customers can get hands-on with creating their own take on the classic KitKat.

In addition to decorating the store with art in collaboration with Devate, Polyviou will be offering a series of limited edition flavours from launch, each inspired by different suburbs and iconic areas across Melbourne. You’ve got the Hosier Lane: Caramelising the Streets with smooth milk chocolate, crisp wafers, caramel fudge, nougat, popcorn, and potato chips; the St Kilda: Sundae Session, which is intense dark chocolate, crisp wafers, marshmallow, pretzel, and raspberry jelly drops; the Little Bourke: Matcha Me Crazy, which has creamy white chocolate, crispy wafers, matcha, toasted coconute, and cornflakes; and finally the Luna Park: Candy Craze, a bonkers mix of creamy white chocolate, crisp wafers, 100s & 1000s, pop rocks, and rice crispies.

“As a massive fan of all things sweet I’m so excited to be collaboration with KitKat once again and working the talented Dvate on the launch”, said Polyviou. “I had the honour and creative freedom to come up with some wicked creations. Inspired by the streets of Melbourne, they combine amazing flavours and my signature gradffiti to make them truly limited edition”.
