James Squire is opening an all-day dining brewhouse in Circular Quay (Sydney)

Australia’s first commercial brewery, James Squire, is coming to the Overseas Passenger Terminal building at Circular Quay with the opening of The Squire’s Landing, an all encompassing brewhouse featuring a restaurant, bar and micro-brewery. A joint venture between The Mantle Group and Lion, the venue will be taking over the former Doyles’ Restaurant space with development already underway and expected to be complete in March 2018.

“This is a stunning, world class site,” said Godfrey Mantle, Chairman of Mantle Group. “The Overseas Passenger Terminal is an iconic venue located on the edge of Sydney Harbour with panoramic views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House and is arguably the best location to dine in Sydney.”

The Squire’s Landing will be deeply rooted in the brewery’s history. The very location of the company’s seventh brewhouse is where founding father of Australian brewing, James Squire first set foot on Aussie soil, upon his arrival on the first fleet in 1788.

Marty Ferguson from the Malt Shovel brewery, brewer of James Squire beers said it felt very special to build a brewery in the honour of Australia’s first brewer and work with the team to offer exclusive range of craft beers to customers in this iconic location.

“We are fortunate that our brewers are based close by at the Malt Shovel Brewery in Camperdown, so the Squires Landing brewery will be able to tap into our craft brewing expertise to brew a range of beers that will be exclusive to this venue,” said Marty.

The Squire’s Landing will be an all-day venue serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with viewing access of the brewing team craft the latest and exclusive beers.
