Hotel Ravesis enters a new era with complete refurbishment (Sydney)

One of Bondi’s best known venues, the beachside Hotel Ravesis, has pushed into the summer holidays with a complete refurbishment, revealing what is perhaps one of the area’s largest and most impressive changes in years. The two-storey space now has brand new interiors for the ground-floor, the balcony and the restaurant & bar spaces, as well as the hotel’s bespoke rooms and suites all of which are informed by the art-deco origins of the 1914 building.

Vibrant hues of white and flamingo pink now bring a bit of Miami retro glamour into the hotel, aimed at nailing the brief of “relaxed sophistication” many associate with the famous beach suburb.

“Hotel Ravesis has a rare combination of attributes, and means a great deal to us, as it has to many Bondi locals and visitors to this beautiful part of the world”, explained Colin Benge, who took over as General Manager at the end of last year. “Our new look terrace, restaurant, bars and hotel rooms have come together so well, and there’s more than just many great summers to come”.

The full extent of the accommodation refurbishment, to the 12 boutique suites and rooms, will become apparent by the middle of next year when the building gets its final wave of its modern rework. They’ll all still benefit from feature views of Bondi Beach, complemented by plenty of light and a vibrant colour palette. Organic bath products featured will be sourced from Bondi based Vanessa Megan Organic Skincare – who is a regular at Bondi Markets – and furniture will come from various Australian makers.

Newly appointed Head chef Peter Streckfuss (ex-Catalina) has taken the menu in a seasonal, produce-focused direction with fresh seafood options – including oysters shucked to order – and pasta rolled fresh daily, all speaking to clean, light classics that draw on touches of Mediterranean influence.

Then there’s the entertainment program, another renewed focus for the hotel which has so far seen the likes of Klue (who is excellent, check him out HERE) and The Elements, an 8-piece made up of members from The Whitlams, Skunkhour and the Bernard Fanning band.
