A slick new cellar door by Handpicked Wines has opened its doors on Kensington Street in Chippendale. The simply named Handpicked Cellar Door promises guests a journey around Australia and the globe through the ever-loved scope of their quality wines. Far from traditional, the urban cellar door showcases a curated list of wines from some of the best winemaking regions and grape varietals from around the world, all focused in the one convenient spot for enthusiasts and those looking to dive deeper into the world of wine.
The exposed brick warehouse is a hub for wine tastings, lounging over a glass with cheese and charcuterie selections curated by Formaggi Ocello, exploring unfinished wines from wine tanks or booking hosted tastings in the Experience Room. Education is also key, with interactive iPads installed around the space to make those tasting series at the sensory bar that much more eye-opening. As many as 30 Handpicked wines, including single vineyard wines, are available at any one time to order by the glass, by the bottle, or simply as a takeaway option. An online shop is also available, delivering your order within three hours if you’re in the Sydney metro area.
Overseen by chief winemakers Gary Baldwin and Peter Dillon, Handpicked’s vineyards are littered across Australia, producing wines that reflect the true characteristics of their regions of origin. But the wine extends beyond the land down under, with wine selections from New Zealand, Italy, and Chile, too.
