Great Britain is getting a culinary showcase at Surry Hills’ nel. restaurant this month (Sydney)

Constant award-winner and one of Surry Hills’ finest, nel. restaurant, is currently running a limited edition menu for all those who want an edible homage to Great Britain to eat your way through. Chef Nelly Robinson is sprinkling his characteristic creativity to pull on some childhood memories and give them little modern twists, offering guests interesting and distinctive dishes that showcase the best classic British winter flavours.

This one will be running up until mid-August, tempting nel loyalists and newcomers with dishes like potato dab with onion mash potato dipped in a nori tempura; braised oxtail faggot served with a mushroom bread and butter pudding and fresh fig; and cauliflower cheese with a Pyengana cheese custard, covered in cauliflower couscous, brioche crumb and fresh Australia truffle. Yep, told ya it was distinctive.

It’s just the latest in nel restaurant’s ever-revolving dining experience, sticking true to their approach of highlighting the best Australia seasonal produce around through a degustation menu that changes every six weeks. This one is going for $108pp, with the option to add matching wines/drinks, including English dry cider and warm mead for an additional $90pp.
