With International IPA Day (Sunday 7th August) coming up, the best teams in Australia’s craft beer scene are no doubt going to be coming out with special brews to celebrate. To get the ball rolling, the legendary 4 Pines Brewing Company have jumped into the brewery with Sydney’s Grain Bar to create an exclusive India Pale Ale, titled 3 C’s for the hops used: Crystal, Chinook, and Columbus.
The triple C hops have been sourced from Crosby Hop Farm, a family-run farm out of the USA who are entering to Australia market for the first time, lending their product to this collaboration brew, which was created at the Manly microbrewery.
Grain Bar, who are extending their focus on local craft distillers, tapped Head Brewer Andrew Tweddell for a limited edition batch of 10 kegs for this, exclusively poured at Grain from Friday 5th August until the taps run dry, after which the bar will be pouring up 4 Pines’ Keller Door series, which is a range of one-off small batch releases.
“To make the 3 C’s IPA, we were involved at every step in the brewing process, from pouring in the hops and measuring out the yeast, to bagging up the spent malt and even cleaning out the tanks,” Grain Bar Manager Alexandra Dahlenburg said. “We can’t wait to have the first taste in a few weeks’ time, and then be able to share the story behind its creation and the results with beer lovers once it’s on tap. Talk about celebrating International IPA Day in style.”
