Golden Gaynetto: Streets launch Golden Gaytime and Cornetto hybrid ice cream

Sometimes dreams become a reality. Streets Ice Cream have a good history of actually listening to their consumers and actually paying attention to creative requests and unique ideas. One such idea is to create the love child of the brand’s beloved Golden Gaytime and Cornetto, appropriately named the Golden Gaynetto. It was a piece of ice cream fan fiction that seemed like a distant fantasy, coming from ardent Sydney-based dessert fan and non-cape-wearing hero Jesse James McElroy, who famously convinced Streets to introduce 1.25L tubs of Golden Gaytime, which they did just over a year ago.

James McElroy dreamed up a Gaynetto prototype last year and swiftly showed his fantasy creation to his Facebook following. Fast forward to this past Monday when The Golden Chief received an official letter from Streets informing him of the brand’s decision to actually create the Gaynetto and make it available to the public, creating a godly toffee and vanilla ice cream in a wafer cone topped with chocolate sauce and finished with Gaytime biscuit crumbs.

As reported by news.com.au, Mr McElroy has also dreamed up what will hopefully by his next big success: a Gaynnietta – which is of course a Gaytime version of the classic Viennetta ice cream, which recently became available on as an on-the-stick ice cream.

Single serve Gayettos are now available for an RRP of $3.20 from petrol stations and convenience stores across Australia. Four-packs will retail for $6.99 at Woolworths stores.
