Popular food and drink delivery service Deliveroo has officially taken a giant step forward for their brand with the introduction of Deliveroo Editions, a game-changing concept that’s already seen great success throughout the UK, Europe and Asia. Basically it’s Deliveroo’s own stand-alone communal kitchen strictly dedicated to creating food for home delivery, created with the aim of meeting customer demand for more selection and less wait, essentially allowing restaurant partners to focus on expansion, innovation and distribution with lower risks and minimal rent. It’s a win for pretty much everyone.
The first Australian delivery-only kitchen has now been set up in Melbourne in the heart of Chapel Street. It’s a self-contained collection of bespoke kitchen spaces open to restaurant partners to come together under one roof, fostering creativity and efficiency while allowing businesses to do things like launch delivery-only restaurants, which is exactly what Chris Lucas of The Lucas Group has done. The hospitality powerhouse has not only brought Baby and Kong to Deliveroo Editions, but also now operates DiDi Dumpling and Yubi, two brand new delivery-only kitchens.
Other well-known Melbourne restaurants that have come into the kitchen space include 8Bit and Up in Smoke, both co-owned by Shayne McCallum and Alan Sam. National treasure Messina have also joined the team, even creating a range of five new delivery-only exclusives (one of which is the “Milo High Club”) to celebrate.
“Deliveroo Editions enables us to raise the bar for the food industry, making good on our promise to create the world’s best food delivery experience for customers”, said General Manager of Deliveroo Australia Levi Aron. “By partnering with some of Australia’s top restaurants – from unique independents to high-street favorites – we’re ensuring people have access to incredible food on demand.”
So far Baby, Kong, DiDi Dumpling, Yubi, 8Bit, Up in Smoke and Messina are all cooking under one roof with Deliveroo Editions. The scope of experimentation is huge, and those lucky enough to be in the initial service area should definitely keep an eye out for any news popping up soon. Service areas surrounding the first Deliveroo Editions (don’t worry, they plan to roll out multiple delivery-only kitchens throughout Australia in 2018) include Windsor, South Yarra, St Kilda, Richmond, Toorak and Prahran.
