Chocolate fans rejoice! A Nutella food truck is making stops in NSW and VIC

The days of eating Nutella on white bread are over. The team behind the beloved chocolate hazelnut spread are on a food drive designed to get people thinking about new ways to eat and enjoy Nutella. In an Australian first a Nutella food truck will be travelling through New South Wales and Victoria handing out yummy samples to lucky punters on a first come, first serve basis.

The first stop on the trip was at Wynyard Park in Sydney’s central business district. Hundreds of people lined up to sample menu items like:

  • Mandarin dipped in Nutella with toasted hazelnuts
  • Stewed winter berries with Nutella and toasted coconut
  • Pikelet with smashed banana and Nutella
  • Crumpet with Nutella, banana and strawberries
  • Seasonal fruit skewer with Nutella
  • Raisin toast with Nutella and berries
  • Crepe stack with Nutella and crispy bacon

The menu was created by the head chef and owner of The Nighthawk Diner, Alistair Fogg. The food truck extraordinaire had great fun putting together the menu and once the team hit their groove they found it hard to stop at seven different items. The stand-out of the lot were the two most left-field choices, proving that Nutella can be enjoyed with things that are a little out of the box. The crepe stack with Nutella and crispy bacon was divine as the saltiness of the meat really went well with the rich and decadent Nutella. The Nutella with raisin toast was also very tasty and proves that there is more to toast than bread and butter.

Those individuals wanting to visit the food truck should look out for the one that looks like a toaster on wheels. Over the next 13 days the team will be serving up a treat at Parramatta, Sydney University, Glebe Markets, Lithgow, Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Bendigo, Ballarat, St Kilda, Southbank and Geelong. This trip will be the best thing since sliced bread or those personalised Christmas Nutella jars (which will make a comeback later this year.) The only thing to remember is that those large, 35kg Nutella jars are for display purposes only. But we can dream, right?
