Canberra’s Good Food Month kicks off this weekend with a delicious line Up

Citi’s Good Food Month is returning to Canberra, with a series of bespoke food experiences held across the city and regional ACT.  Kicking off yesterday, local and visiting foodies can get a taste of exciting dinners, lunches and events until the end of the month.

Some of Australia’s top chefs are collaborating with Canberra’s hottest venues to present a delicious choice of Good Food events, including a street food celebration and a four-course lunch prepared by Canberra’s most exciting emerging talent.

The Enlighten Night Noodle Markets are also returning for a third year running, as part of the Enlighten Festival. The markets will be held at Reconciliation Place from Friday, March 3 – Sunday, March 12, and, for the first time, opening hours will be extended over the weekend 5pm – 12am on Friday and Saturday nights.

“Canberra’s food scene is growing at a fantastic pace, and Good Food Month is growing with it, offering a snapshot of talent – both established and emerging – as well as some fantastic edible adventures and one-off experiences,” Canberra Times Good Food Month Creative Director, Myffy Rigby said.

This year, Citi customers have access to an array of exclusive benefits. This includes reserved seating, VIP upgrades and competitions.

Market-goers will feast on a fusion of illumination and tasty dishes from a roster of more  than 20 stallholders including Chur Burger, Bao Stop, Hoy Pinoy, Gelato Messina and Black Star Pastry x N2 Gelato. 

Menulog will be helping visitors skip the queues, by ordering food from staff in the Menulog seating area.

Featuring this year is a Melbourne’s Matt Wilkinson (Pope Joan) for a collaboration lunch with Sean McConnell of Monster Bar and Kitchen, presenting the Monster Mash Volume 2. The discussion with the two chefs will be held on  Saturday, March 25; 12.30pm, and for the first 10 Citi customers, they can use the code CITIVIP to receive a 30-minute meet and greet with the chefs, along with a signed Matt Wilkinson Cookbook and a Good Food Guide.

 Debuting this year is a celeberation of street food with the Laneway! Streetfood! Party! presented by Beer the Beautiful Truth. the event will be a laneway celebration of beers complimented with delicious street food from around the world. Created by Australia’s best chefs, a diverse menu will be on offer, served up in an underutilised and unconventional dining space in the city for a truly unique event. Joining the party is exan meat master Wes Griffiths (Bovine and Swine), who will be cooking an authentic barbeque. Tickets to the event held on Friday, March 24; 5pm – late, are $50, which includes food, ice beer or cider and musical entertainment.

Other featured events include Dinner Down the Rabbit Hole on Thursday 16 March featuring the folks from White Rabbit Brewery, and the Young Chefs lunch on Sunday March 26, held by Canberra’s culinary young guns including Josh Lundy (Eighty Six), Jasmine Sawa (Monster, Marcus), Dimabuyo (Aubergine) and Annabelle Grei (Pialligo Estate).
