The Brisbane suburb of Paddington has welcomed a fiery new fried chicken joint going by the name of Winner Winner. Authentic Nashville cooking defines the menu here, and a sharp focus on offering every possible style of chicken is exactly what the intentions of owner/operators Luke Stringer and Ashleigh Bates.
“The fried chicken movement doesn’t seem to be dying down anytime soon”, offered Stringer. “People want fresh and delicious fried chicken and we’re excited to be doing it our own unique way in Paddington. We’ve done a lot of research and eaten a lot of chicken [so] we know we are onto a winner”.
Gutting out the former Ruby Café and transforming it into a two-floor chicken hub, Bates kept the design close to simple and straight forward, mirroring the look and texture of fried chicken with an orange palette that is being described as clean, bold and impactful. Black and white help accentuate the golden glow as well as a neon sign located upstairs which reads “Love Me Tender”.
Anyone ordering any style (tenders, wings, burgers, drumsticks, or whole birds) of Winner Winner’s chicken will be able to pick from three levels of heat – original (some heat), medium (spicy) and hot (like really hot). Of course, these pieces of bird can be teamed up with sides and sauces such as curly fries, slaw, pop corn, house made special sauce, mayo, garlic aioli, blue cheese aioli, tomato sauce, and slaw sauce. The menu also includes various chicken packs and just one dessert option: an old school sundae made of vanilla wafers, crushed peanuts, whipped Chantilly cream, and glace cherry.
Winner Winner will open up in a few weeks time at 233A Given Tce, Paddington QLD 4064, a short stroll from Suncorp Stadium. More information can be found HERE.
