Barangaroo is hosting its own month-long food and drink festival in August (Sydney)

Throughout the month of August food and drink precinct Barangaroo is celebrating the tail-end of winter with a series of exclusive events, all spread across various restaurants, bars and diners including 12-Micron, Bel & Brio, Born by Tapavino, and Zushi. The collection of venues, officially dubbed “The Streets of Barangaroo” will be offering a range of influences for Eats on the Streets, from a series exploring four Italian regions at the aforementioned Bel & Brio, to a special kitchen-swap between neighbours Banksii and Anason. Winter Produce Dinner at 12-Micron

12-Micron celebrates the best of Australia’s winter produce with a seven-course meal. Executive chef Justin Wise sources ingredients from a range of Australian producers and foragers to create dishes such as kingfish with fennel, jalapeno and fingerlime. The menu also includes two new desserts including head pastry chef Ashley Smith’s take on a pavlova with crisp meringue, quandong jam, white chocolate mousse and a liquid chocolate sphere coated in white chocolate.

Four Regions of Italy at Bel & Brio

During August, Bel & Brio offers a chance to tour Italy to those stuck in Australia’s winter. Over four weeks, the restaurant explores the Lombardy, Tuscany, Lazio and Sicily food regions of Italy with a four-course dinner each week. Region-specific wines are also available for purchase if you’re looking for an authentic experience.

Catalonian Degustation at Born by Tapavino

Executive chef Renee Anderson brings a slice of Barcelona to The Streets of Barangaroo with a 10-course degustation. Taste your way through the Catalonian region with modern twists on its unique flavours. Anderson was inspired to pay homage to the region after a recent road trip around Spain.

Meet the Producer Dinner at love.fish

Love.fish serves a four-course dinner celebrating wild and sustainably harvested sea urchin, black lip abalone and turban snails from southern NSW. Diners have a chance to chat to fisherman Greg Finn of Pristine Waters, who will bring his live catch direct to the venue. After listening to a few tales of the sea from Greg, guests can meet the family behind the dinner’s matching sustainably-sourced, biodynamic Krinklewood wines.

Unlimited Dumpling Feast at Old Town Hong Kong

Grab your stretchiest pair of pants and head down to Old Town Hong Kong. Throughout August, they’re challenging diners to eat as many dumplings as they can in 90 minutes. Test your belly size with a menu of dim sum and selected mains.

Price: $43pp for adults, $28pp for kids (height under 130cm). Kids under three eat free.

Land Meets Sea at Meat & Wine Co.

Meat & Wine Co. serves up a five-course set menu throughout August. Land meets sea with dishes such as Moreton Bay Bug in garlic butter; and the Karubi plate with slow-cooked brisket, miso jus, butternut squash puree and charred shallot. Finish up with a warming apple pie consisting of fried apple pastry, apple toffee cream, sour apple gel, mascarpone ice cream and smoked maple syrup. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Meat & Wine Co. dinner without matching wines!

Banksii x Anason Kitchen Takeover

For one night, Somer Sivrioglu of Anason and Hamish Ingham of Banksii swap kitchens to create their own respective takes on botanical-influenced Australian food and modern Turkish cuisine. After cocktails and canapes at Banksii, guests are seated at either restaurant to enjoy a four-course set menu from the two chefs. Sommelier Rebecca Lines pairs each dish with a matching Turkish wine or vermouth.

Asian Street Food at Lotus

During the first half of August, Lotus dishes up a menu inspired by the streets of Beijing. Start off with Lotus’ signature dumplings before getting your hands on a round of specially-designed mains including braised pork belly encased in a soft, steamed bun. A coconut and palm sugar ice cream makes a refreshing finish to the meal.

Fresh Wasabi and Truffle Lunch at Zushi

Zushi takes full advantage of truffle season with a six-course lunch showcasing wasabi and truffle. Guests try Japanese dishes such as South Australian bluefin tuna sashimi topped with fresh Tasmanian wasabi; and a Shiro Kin fullblood wagyu steak with a truffle and wasabi mash. Take the edge off the winter chill and order a warming sake from sake master Serena Ang.
