Arnott’s announce Gelato Messina Tim Tam range

Call this the dessert collaboration to end all dessert collaborations (and we all know just how many pop up just about every week). Arnott’s have had the good sense to take their iconic Tim Tam biscuits and introduce a range of new flavours in partnership with none other than the most in-demand dessert brand in the country, Gelato Messina.

After extensive testing and trialing the pair have come up with four new flavours that capture some of Messina’s most popular flavours, taking gelato and tranposing it to that legendary biscuit crunch with: Choc Mint; Salted Caramel & Vanilla; Coconut & Lychee; and Black Forest. Yep, black forest Tim Tams. Finally.

Tim Tam invited the Messina crew to their secret kitchens to tinker away at these flavours, not letting a word out until both teams of perfectionists were confident in the range.

“When Arnott’s approached us about creating gelato-inspired Tim Tam flavours, it was pretty exciting and quite a privilege”, said the modest Declan Lee, co-founder of Gelato Messina. “It was a new challenge for us; making a gelato is one thing [but] making a biscuit that tastes like gelato is another”.

Declan says that it was crucial to Messina that the biscuits stayed true to the gelato chain’s ethos of quality, being able to offer distinct flavours made from the best ingredients. It’s a labour of love which saw Messina spend hours at Tim Tam’s Western Sydney HQ, working with their food technicians and tasting endless rounds of gelato until they could map out four separate flavour profiles, which were then blended into the biscuits that are about to fly off supermarket and independent retailer shelves across Australia.

“We were drawn to the guys from Messina because of their uncompromising commitment to flavours” said Global Communications Manager for Arnott’s Nicky Thomson. “This new generation of Tim Tam is one of our most exciting and innovative yet. Gelato Messina is leading the way in the Aussie gelato movement, and we’re thrilled to pair their expertise with Australia’s most-loved chocolate biscuit”.

The new Tim Tam inspired by Gelato Messina range is available nationally from 6th February 2017. Packets will be priced at RRP $3.65 each.
