Anna Polyviou, renowned Executive Pastry Chef of Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney will once again be leading charge as she curates the hotel’s 5th annual “Sweet Street” dessert festival at the end of this month. Set for one night only on 29th June, the curated sugar rush will bring in a bunch of the city’s best and most beloved purveyors of all things sweet.
Polyviou has managed to round up not just heavy-hitters Adriano Zumbo and Blackstar Pastry, but also MakMak Macarons, Butter, Uncle Tetsu, Koi Dessert Bar, Kristen Tibballs, and Petal Met Sugar. All will have stalls set up in an area of the hotel while the festival vibe is complemented by graffiti artists, break-dancers, live music, a dessert-eating competition, arcade games, prizes and more.
While the full menu from everyone involved will be revealed on the night, we know that Polyviou has planned a selection of her characteristically creative treats, including Popping Caramel, a combination of milk chocolate with popping crunch and passionfruit caramel; Matcha March, which blends matcha, crunch cornflakes and strawberry; and more. The chef will also be using the festival as a platform to exclusively launch her brand new Sweet Street cookbook.
Tickets to Sweet Street are priced at $85 per person and include eight tokens to redeem at any stall. Children’s tickets are $45 per child and include four tokens. VIP tickets are $135 and include early entry and a signed copy of Polyviou’s hot new Sweet Street cookbook. For tickets, guests may visit www.shangri-la.com/sydney.
