Ananas introduces new menu just in time for Vivid Sydney

It’s grown to be one of the most popular and chaotic events of the year with hoards of tourists flocking to Sydney for the sensory overload that is Vivid Festival. There is more than one way to enjoy Sydney’s lit up surrounds during this event and given the chaos and crowds sometimes it’s nice to start off in a comfy spot eating good food, taking in a view of the harbour lights.

Ananas has steadfastly become popular for its twist on modern french cuisine radiating a chic yet slightly off kilter style throughout the restaurant. From their beautifully crafted pineapple lights (Ananas being french for the fruit) and striped awnings to their grand u shaped bar, the place has a relaxed yet glamorous vibe perfect for an after work catch-up or romantic night out.

Their recent relocation from The Rocks to right on Circular Quay seems highly fortuitous and well timed, even more so with the introduction of daily ‘Plat du jours’ such as unlimited mussels and frites on Mondays and $1 oysters on Wednesdays. The menu offerings suit a diverse crowd including a ladies lunch, an a la carte menu and a group set menu (2 courses $60 per person or 3 courses $70 per person). Customers can expect dishes ranging from fresh and seasonal Parisian Spinach Gnocchi (zucchini, Holy Goat fresh cheese curd, tarragon, peas), hearty Braised Beef Cheek (celeriac purée, roasted shallot, broccolini, lemon, olive oil, chilli) and decadent Tarte Tatin (caramelised apples, peanut brittle, tonka bean ice cream) complemented with one of their Burgundy sourced Pinot Noirs and a splendid view.

Whether pre, post or somewhere in between, Ananas is definitely worth adding to the Vivid itinerary especially when a wind down, a glass of wine and a chance to experience the festival from a different perspective are on offer.
