A Singapore hawker style restaurant has popped up at The Star (Sydney)

Inspired by the famous street food of Singapore, a pop-up restaurant has made The Star its temporary home from now until May of this year. Chef Djohaan Arneez leads the venture, which is located in The Star Cafe Court, and is seeking to put unique twists on some of the most renowned hawker-style dishes with hints of Chinese, Malay, and Indian flavours.

The menu will be kept simple, nodding to both the most popular of Singapore street foods as well as lesser-known and underappreciated dishes inspired by the various hawkers that characterise Singapore. Featuring on the menu is
Seafood & Coconut Soup ($17) with rice vermicelli noodles, squid, clams, prawns, and fish cake; house-made Indian Crispy Pancake ($14) with chicken curry; wok tossed Queensland Spanner Crab ($23) in chilli sauce with mantou buns; Fried Carrot Cake ($9); and more.

The pop-up is also offering Sirap Bandung ($3.50), which is rose cordial with evaporated milk, and Virgin Singapore Sling ($3.50), made of ginger ale, lemon juice, orange juice, and grenadine syrup.

For it’s duration, the pop up will be open Sunday and Monday 11:30am-9pm; Tuesday to Thursday 11:30am-10:30pm; and Friday and Saturday 11:30am-11pm. For more information click HERE.
