A new Sydney Seaplanes experience is taking off at Rose Bay

Sydney Seaplanes with its fleet of five planes has recently completed the construction of a new upscale terminal at Rose Bay, featuring a lounge, restaurant, discreet VIP space, function area, and flying boat museum.

A Sydney Seaplanes Flight to Palm Beach

The Sydney Secrets 30-minute scenic flight ($285 per person, minimum 2 adults) tours around the Harbour and Sydney Opera House before flying to the stunning Palm Beach. Aerial views of the picturesque Northern Beaches from Curl Curl to Avalon lend to a spectacular, one-of-a-kind experience even when it’s a cloudy, drizzly morning. It’s not often you explore Sydney from above.

Today we fly the Cambria, a De Havilland Canada (DHC-2) Beaver seaplane with three others (and the pilot of course). DHC-2 Beaver production began after World War II, designed to be flown in rugged and remote areas of the world. Over 1,600 Beavers were produced until 1967.

Empire Lounge

Paying homage to the 1938 Empire class flying boats, Empire Lounge is Australia’s first purpose-built seaplane terminal. With uninterrupted water views and an outdoor decking area, there’s plenty of opportunity for a beverage or a meal before or after the flight.

It doesn’t get much simpler than smashed avocado on sourdough with poached eggs, marinated feta, and tomatoes ($20). It’s a generous serving that’s bound to bring a spring in your step in the morning.

Pulled pork and peas with mint, harissa, lemon, and poached eggs on sourdough ($20) is a heartier pick. The harissa, in particular, adds a satisfying kick of spice to the dish.

Empire Lounge is also open to the public seeking a meal or a cheeky beverage.
