10-day food festival Tasting Australia is planning an epic Kangaroo Island event (Adelaide)

Returning with an extended program this year, Tasting Australia will once again thread through the majestic surrounds of Adelaide beyond with a culinary experience led various chefs, winemakers, distillers and producers. The unique multi-day gastronomic celebration, which highlights not only South Australia’s exceptional beauty but also tastes from around the country, will include various events such as the essential “Tasting Australia Airlines” which is a full-day itinerary for guests on Kangaroo Island blending the stunning location with a world-class program designed by award-winning chefs, winemakers, distillers and producers.

Tasting Australia Director Simon Bryant and programming director Jock Zonfrillo have put together quite the program for this year, though there’s no doubt that Tasting Australia Airlines will be one of the biggest highlights.

“This is an exciting direction for Tasting Australia, to showcase even more of South Australia to our festival guests, including the world-class chefs who join us in 2018”, said Bryant. “Never before could you wake up in Adelaide CBD, spend the day lapping up views of Kangaroo Island’s pristine coastline while eating local food prepared by Michelin-starred chefs, and be back in Adelaide from a nightcap”.

The itinerary for Tasting Australia Airlines will also include a tour of Island Estate Vineyards, apertif at Hannaford and Sach’s iconic Fig Tree, canapes at Life Time Private Retreats’ clifftop properties, a lunch curated by Africola’s Duncan Welgemoed and a spirit tasting with KI Spirits’ distiller Jon Lark and his brother, Tasmanian whisky maker Bill Lark.

All tickets to the event will include transport with partners Alliance Airlines, on-ground transfers in the region, and all premium food and beverages plus as host for the day. Though try and get in as soon as possible, tickets are being capped at 50 people although additional itineraries will be released later this year.

In 2018, Tasting Australia will extend from eight days to ten, taking place between 13th and 22nd April. Chefs joining the line-up from around the world include Christian Puglisi of Copenhagen’s extraordinary Relæ, Norbert Niederkofler of three-Michelin starred Italy restaurant St Hubertus, JP McMahon of Michelin-starred Aniar in Ireland, Australia’s very own Dan Hunter of Brae, and more.
