Interview: Mitch Orr and Dan Hong are throwing a street food party for Good Food Month

Good Food Month is once again fixing to take over Sydney with a ridiculous amount of exclusive food and drink focused events. In addition to the always jam-packed Night Noodle Markets, the program each year gives the best chefs from Sydney and beyond a chance to collaborate, showcase, and experiment to feed the masses (or lucky ticket-holders).

Bound to be one of the program’s most popular events is “Dan & Mitch Throw A Party”, a simple and straight-forward celebration of travel-inspired street food from Mitch Orr (ACME) and Dan Hong (Mr Wong, Ms G’s, El Loco). That’s some serious culinary star power right there, and for this one-off they’ll be cooking up treats inspired by their time shuffling through the streets of Mexico, dining at a Noma pop-up, and eating through L.A.

For a little bit more info about the event we asked Mitch Orr what to expect:

How did the concept behind “Dan & Mitch Throw a Party” form?

Basically Hongy and I wanted to do something really fun and interactive. We want it to reflect what a great time we had in L.A and Mexico, smashing amazing street food.

Why should people attend and what can they expect?

People should attend because it’s Dan and I, obviously. They can expect to eat with their hands, get a little messy and get their two step on.

There are plenty of different events on as part of this year’s Good Food Month? Aside from your event, what are some of your top picks?

I’m really looking forward to Duncan Welgemoed’s Africola Party on 7 October, it’s sure to be a heap of tasty fun.

How can people make the most of their Good Food Month this year?

Trying a variety of events – there’s a lot on offer this year, with a bunch of great talent. And so many of the events are located in Hyde Park Palms, so it makes it very easy.
