Where to rehydrate and refuel after City 2 Surf this weekend (Sydney)

Treat those joggers well because they’ll be your saving grace this Sunday at City2Surf, the heart-pumping marathon that starts in the city and ends up by the golden sands of Bondi Beach. Each time the event comes around, some of Bondi’s finest venues seek the attention of those looking to re-hydrate and wind-down post-run, and there will be no shortage of spots to do that at this weekend. Check the list below and make sure you plan carefully. Good luck!

Luis Tan

luistans

This South American fusion restaurant are just coming off a successful first year, and as part of their ongoing celebration (which includes welcoming new chefs and new menu) they’ll be keeping energy levels high this Sunday with a BBQ from 11am with live Latin jazz/funk by South American artist Nico. You’ll also find $20 Estrella jugs and $5 Cricketers Arms tins to wash down some $10 chorizo choripan.

The Bucket List

Don’t feel like walking far from the finish line? The Bucket List will be your closest companion once those medals have been handed out. They’ll be bringing back their annual rehydration party, a colourful free-entry event with DJs from 2:30pm and a bunch of food and drink specials, including taco burgers and watermelon Vodka coolers.

Bondi Pavilion, Queen Elizabeth Dr

Drake Eatery

drakeeate

The tired and thirsty can drop by Drake Eatery post race for a round of Bloody Mary’s, Spritz’s, and Mimosas. They’ll be doing drinks from 10am, breakfast until 11:30am, and lunch from 12:30pm.

Crnr Curlewis St & Gould St, Bondi Beach

Icebergs Dining Room & Bar

icebergs

This one should already be on plenty of radars for post-run hangs. There’s just no beating that million dollar view, throw in a DJ from 3pm and the Sunday Session vibe is real. The kitchen will be pumping out their regular Sunday lunch offerings, which includes some of the best local seafood around.

1 Notts Ave, Bondi Beach

Beach Road Hotel + BL Burgers

If you want a typical Sunday pub experience head along to Beach Road Hotel, but the real interest here lies with the adjoining BL Burgers, which are available upstairs from 11am. It’s worth getting something small from the kitchen here immediately after the race, but then hanging around for the more substantial dive into a world full of some of the best damn burgers Sydney has ever seen (definitely get the Blame Canada).

BL Burgers will also have a special by the name of the “City2Surf & Turf” burger (pictured above): 200g beef pattie, double egmont cheese, streaky bacon, crumbed prawns, lettuce, pickles, Spanish onion & special sauce, offered for $18 on the day.
