Our top picks for Taste of Perth 2016

One of Perth’s unmissable food events is back as Taste of Perth will take place from April 29th to May 1st. Over these short three days, some of Perth’s greatest restauranteurs, of such places as Bib and Tucker, Bistro Guillaume and Manuke Woodfire Kitchen, will create 3-4 signature dishes in ‘taste’ sized portions starting from only 46 each, allowing you to shape your dream tasting menu and try a diverse range of cuisines. In between these tastings, a plethora of culinary events and attractions will take place giving you to get a taste of the best that Perth food scene has to offer. The event promises to be bigger and better than ever, so whether you’re a first time or returning attendee, we thought we would guide you through some of the ‘not to be missed’ events this year which will all take place at Langely Park.

Electrolux Taste Theatre
Allow your appetite to be whet by attending the The Electrolux Taste Theatre, which will host live cooking demonstrations by some Australia’s leading chefs. Armed with the latest cooking appliances from Electrolux, the chefs will demonstrate and share their favourite recipes and secrets for great tasting food. With three free demonstrations at each Taste session, you won’t want to miss the chance to be inspired.

The Lurpark Pantry

A brand known to produce some of the most delicious premium butter in the world, Lurpark promises to serve up a tantalizing experience through their 15 minute masterclasses. These classes will guide you through the art of matching flavours. Whether you like salty or sweet, a little bit of heat or some crunch with your bite, Lurpark will invite and encourage you to discover mind-boggling combinations that work together to create something delicious. Places are available on a first come, first serve basis and seating is strictly limited. Make sure to head to Freestyle with Lurpak at the beginning of your Taste session to reserve your spot.

Suntory Whisky KAKUBIN

Making its debut appearance as a sponsor of Taste Festivals 2016, Suntory Whisky KAKUBIN, aka Japan’s number 1 whisky, will bring a taste of Japan to Taste of Perth through their Izakaya-style bar. A perfect place to relax, the Izakaya will pair Suntory’s whisky, such as the light and refreshing Kakubin Highball, with delicious food offerings. With Suntory not only being Japan’s first whisky distiller, but also four-time winner of the International Spirits Challenge ‘Distiller of the Year’ award, it’s a must to check out Izakaya Kakubin bar in 2016.

A Taste of Beef and Lamb
An event not to be missed, A Taste of Beef and Lamb will see a farmer address issues concerning sustainable farming of cattle and sheep along with the range of beef and lamb cuts to introduce into your kitchen. A live cooking demonstration from a leading Australian chef will also take place and provide inspiration on how to make delicious beef and lamb meals. Each session will end by allowing audience members to sit and enjoy the dishes while learning how to pair the meals with wine. Places to this event are free, so make sure to head to A Taste of Beef and Lamb at the beginning of a Taste session to reserve your spot.
